At least eight climate variations protests have been arrested by cops in Washington DC after storming the ground during the yearly Congressional Baseball Game.
The annual event – which started back in 1909 – sees Republicans and Democrats put aside their variations for charity, but they couldn’t escape political scrutiny on Wednesday night as numerous protestors made their voices heard.
After pro-Palestine flags were unfurled in the group, climate variations protestors were then seen popping the barriers and storming the ground at Nationals Park, the house of Primary League Baseball’s Washington Nationals.
The game was finished amid chaotic scenes, which saw some protestors pounced on as soon as they landed on the ground, while others get away capture for a few seconds before being tackled to the field.
As police arrested the protestors on the ground, clips posted online represented other spectators chanting ‘USA! USA!’
Eight of us have been arrested for stopping down the Congressional Baseball Game. They are behind bars now. Create no issue: It’s the Partners of Congress who should be locked up.”
“We have adopted the ground at the Congressional Baseball Game and play has stopped! Congress transfer billions of public $$ to subsidize deadly fossil fuels — but the cops are handing us instead. This Chevron-sponsored game cannot resume. This is unconscionable,” the team wrote.
It was not the first time the yearly charity game has involved problems.
