Apple is rolling out a latest firmware feature for AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Max, and AirPods Pro users. As usual, your AirPods will update themselves when charging and within Bluetooth capacity of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac that’s connected to Wi-Fi.
The second-generation AirPods Pro versions, the PowerBeats Pro, and the Beats Fit Pro now have firmware version 6F8, up from 6F7, while the other models have firmware model 6A326, up from 6A321
Apple does not offer all data on what features might be included in the refreshed firmware, so it is unclear what’s latest. The provided release notes for the update list only “bug fixes and other enhancement.”
Apple also does not provide instructions on how to improve AirPods software, but firmware is generally installed over-the-air while the AirPods are powered on and connected to an iOS tool or a Mac.
Here’s a rundown of the present firmware models of each of Apple’s AirPods version:
- AirPods Pro (2nd version) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C)
- AirPods Pro (2nd version) with MagSafe Charging Case (Lightning)
- AirPods Pro (1st version)
- AirPods (3rd version)
- AirPods (2nd version)

- There’s also a new update for Beats Fit Pro (generation 6F8) and Powerbeats Pro (generation 6F8).
